HND Admission Requirements

Our Higher National Diploma programmes are designed for ND graduates seeking advanced specialization. Below are the requirements for admission.

Basic HND Admission Requirements

  • National Diploma (ND): Candidate must possess a National Diploma (ND) in the relevant programme with a minimum of Lower Credit (CGPA of 2.50 and above).
  • O'Level Requirements: Five (5) credit level passes in relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings (SSCE/NECO/NABTEB/GCE).
  • Industrial Training (IT): A minimum of one (1) year of post-ND industrial training experience is required for most programmes. Candidates with ND Pass may be considered with at least two (2) years of relevant industrial experience.
  • Transcript: Official academic transcript from the awarding institution must be submitted.
  • JAMB Requirement: Candidates must have sat for the relevant UTME examination at the time of their ND admission (or obtain JAMB admission letter).

Lower Credit & Above

ND graduates with a minimum of Lower Credit (CGPA 2.50) are eligible for direct admission into the HND programme without additional conditions, provided they meet the IT requirement.

ND Pass with Experience

Candidates with ND Pass (CGPA 2.00 - 2.49) may be considered for admission if they possess a minimum of two (2) years of relevant post-ND industrial training experience.

Industrial Training

All candidates must present evidence of completing the mandatory industrial training programme. A letter of completion from the employer and the IT logbook are required.

Important Note: Candidates are required to submit their ND academic transcripts and IT completion certificates alongside their application. Consult the respective departments for any specific additional requirements.

Industrial Training (IT) Requirements

  • A minimum of 12 months of supervised industrial training is required after the ND programme.
  • The training must be in an organization relevant to the candidate's field of study.
  • Submission of the IT logbook and a letter of completion from the employer is mandatory.
  • Candidates with ND Pass must provide two (2) years of post-ND industrial experience documentation.

HND Application Process

  • Step 1: Obtain HND application form online via the polytechnic admission portal.
  • Step 2: Submit academic transcripts from your ND institution (to be sent directly to the Admissions Office).
  • Step 3: Upload IT completion certificate and logbook.
  • Step 4: Participate in the HND screening exercise (may include written test and/or interview).
  • Step 5: Check admission status and accept offer if successful.
